CNNIC IPv4 proposals approved of at APNIC conference
In 2011, two proposals (prop-093 and prop-094) which were co-authored by CNNIC employees were approved of at the 31st APNIC conference. It is the first time that APNIC has approved of Chinese proposals, which indicates that China has more say on Internet.
Prop-94 suggests removing renumbering requirement for the last A address block of IPv4 address allocation. The approval of this proposal results in more convenience for ISPs in applying addresses from APNIC. Authors of Prop-94 are Izumi Okutani from JPNIC and Yinghao Zhang from CNNIC.
Prop-93 suggests the smallest allocation unit should be downsized to 1 C (256 IP addresses) for the last A address block of IPv4 address allocation, which is expanded to the assignment to Critical Infrastructure and end users. The approval of this proposal will facilitate the application for IPv4 addresses by gTLD and ccTLD operators. Authors of Prop-93 are Randy Bush, Philip Smith, Andy Linton and Yinghao Zhang from CNNIC.
