Multiple positions in IETF
Yao Jiankang has mainly been conducting the technological and standard research on IDN, EAI (Email Address Internationalization), DNS and Internet naming and addressing. He has promoted the publication of many international and domestic technological standards. Currently he is Co-chair of IETF EXTRA. He is also Co-secretary of CDNS (Chinese Domain Name Consortium). Yao Jiankang used to be Member of IAB (Internet Architecture Board), Co-chair of IETF APPSAWG, Secretary of the EAI group, and Member of APPSDIR.
The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is the premier standards development organization for the Internet. The IETF standards are often adopted by Internet users, network operators, and equipment vendors, and thus help to shape the trajectory of the Internet development.
