Information:
Brief introduction of IGF and MAG
The
Internet Governance Forum is an open forum specifically focused on internet
governance, which was established by the World Summit on the Information
Society in November 2006.This forum is the highest level conference to discuss global
internet governance related issues. It brings together mutilstakeholders in the
Internet governance debate, whether they are from governments, intergovernmental
organizations, the private sector, civil society, academia, and technical community
on an equal basis and through an open and inclusive process. IGF plays quite an
important role in the policy-making of international internet organizations such
as ITU and ICANN, as well as the internet management implementation or
participation of nations and the internet community and enterprises.
In
order to better guide IGF, MAG was established with the purpose to advise the
Secretary-General on the program and schedule of the annual Internet Governance
Forum meetings, which becomes the highest advisory and decision-making
institution for IGF.
The
11th IGF will be held in Cancun, Mexico, November 2016.
