Neustar conducted a survey of IT employees in as many as 25 industries including finance, retail, telecommunications and tourism in the first quarter of 2012. The survey showed:
More than 300 respondents claimed that they had ever suffered DDos attack.
The greatest worry about Internet attack was its impact on customer services – 51% of the respondents viewed it as the No.1 risk.
35% of the respondents claimed that they suffered attack for more than 24 hours – 11% even for more than a week.
This survey also showed that although most companies worried about the negative impact of the DDoS attacks they suffered, few of them implemented solutions for mitigating DDos attacks and most of them only coped with them simply relying on firewalls and IDS. Only less than 5% of the respondents said they had deployed specific solutions to cope with DDoS attacks.
