The 64th members' meeting of APTLD (Asia Pacific Top Level Domain Association) was successfully held in Malaysia on February 21st-24th2014. With all of APTLD board members approved, Ms. Ting Chen from CNNIC was elected as Vice Chair of APTLD. Furthermore, Prof. Qian Hualin as Chief Scientist of CNIC used to take the position of APTLD Chair from 2003 to 2005,
The board is the authority of APTLD, members of the board vote to make decisions regards all important issues associated with APTLD. From July 2013, CNNIC started undertaking the work of APTLD secretariat for the first time,
In August 2009, CNNIC hosted APTLD conference in Beijing, and again in August 2013, CNNIC successfully hosted the 63rd APTLD conference in Xi’an China. As one of the founding organizations of APTLD, CNNIC is also a super member of APTLD, which has always been actively involved in the APTLD related work and activities. In terms of international domain names, registration management, security protection and other fields, CNNIC and APTLD member have had fruitful exploration and practice.
APTLD (Asia Pacific Top Level Domain Association) is an organization for ccTLD (country-code Top Level Domain) registries in Asia Pacific region. APTLD was originally established in 1998, and in 2003 legally established in Malaysia. Currently, APTLD has 36 full members and 18 associate members.
APTLD works as the forum of information exchange regarding technological and operational issues of domain name registries in Asia Pacific region. Also, as an interface to other international Internet coordinating bodies, APTLD fosters and elevates participation of AP ccTLDs in these global fora, as well as acting in the best interest of APTLD members in global Internet policy making process.
