Dr. Li Xiaodong Selected Member of MAG of IGF

On January 15th, the United Nations released a new member list of the Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) of the Internet Governance Forum (Internet Governance Forum, IGF). Nominated by the Internet Society, Dr. Li Xiaodong, CEO of China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), was selected. The new session of MAG is composed of 55 experts from around the world on behalf of governments, the private sector, technology community and civil society. Among them there are 18 new members. Besides Dr. Li Xiaodong, the other two Chinese experts are Mr. Guo Liang, a professor of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Mr. Chen Hongbing, Counselor of the Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Founded in November 2006 upon the decision of the United Nations World Summit on the Information society (WSIS), IGF was an open forum dedicated to Internet governance issues. As one of the main institutional bodies of IGF, MAG is mainly responsible for providing suggestions for the agenda and issues of IGF meeting.
